How Open Marketing
uses your details.
What information Open Marketing collects, why, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it.
Who we are

Information we collect
When you contact us
Your name, business name, email address or phone number, and whatever you tell us in your message. We use it to reply and, if you ask, to prepare a preview or a quote.
When we look for businesses that might want a website
We look for businesses whose web presence suggests they could benefit from our services. We record only business information that is publicly available: the business name, trade and area; public business contact details (such as a shop address, business phone number or business email); links to public pages such as a website, Facebook page or directory listing; and notes on how that presence looks to a customer. Our sources are search engines, the business’s own website and social pages, business directories and Companies House.
We do not collect personal social media profiles, home addresses, personal email addresses or sensitive information. We do not buy contact lists, use automated scraping or send bulk email.
When you visit this website
This website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. The enquiry draft on the contact page works in your browser only: nothing you type reaches us unless you choose to send it. Some example photos load from Unsplash, which receives your device’s IP address when they load. Our website host may keep standard server logs.
Why we use it
- Replying to you, and preparing previews or quotes you ask for: to take steps you’ve asked for before a contract, and our legitimate interest in running the business.
- Contacting a business we think may benefit from a website: our legitimate interest in offering relevant services to businesses. We contact each business individually and personally: by letter, in person, or by phone after checking the Telephone Preference Service. We only email limited companies and LLPs at a published business address, unless you’ve agreed to hear from us.
- Keeping a “do not contact” list: so that we respect your request never to be contacted again.
How long we keep it
- Notes about a business we contacted: if you don’t respond or aren’t interested, we delete your contact details within six months.
- “Do not contact” list: only your business name and the date, kept for as long as we run Open Marketing, so we never contact you again.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information or share it for anyone else’s marketing. It is held by the services we use to run the business, such as email and website hosting.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. You can object to marketing at any time: reply “no thanks”, or email hello@openmarketing.uk, and we won’t contact you again.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
